Senator Coons - Co-Chair the U.S. Senate Chicken Caucus
U.S. Sens. Chris Coons, (D-Del.) and Johnny Isakson, (R-Ga.,) urged South African President Jacob Zuma to resolve unfinished elements of the poultry treaty between the United States and South Africa.

The two countries reached an agreement in June to end a long-standing dispute over the 100 percent tariff South Africa has imposed on U.S. chicken exports since 2000. America’s poultry farmers, including those in Delaware, are effectively blocked from the South African market.

Under the agreement, reached in Paris, American poultry products are expected to enter the South African market before the end of 2015.
